ABSTRACT
The Transport Planning Skills Initiative (TPSI) was formally launched in London, England. Supported by key institutes involved in transportation issues and brought together by the Transport Planning Society, the initiative has attracted high-level endorsement, including support from ministers. The Institute of Logistics and Transport is involved as a key player within the TPSI, which is designed to address the skills shortage issues through short, medium and longer term measures. The institute is specifically involved in a number of areas, including the development of a comprehensive listing of all transport planning training opportunities, careers guidance, attraction of students to the transport planning sector, qualification development, and building on the success of school travel plans.
