ABSTRACT
The results of the Fork Truck Association Trend Survey for the fourth quarter of 1999, are presented. Based on the responses of 116 manufacturers and dealers throughout Great Britain, the survey indicates a period of stability within the sector. Despite a slight decrease in the number of new truck inquiries, there has been an upturn in actual conversions. A total of 46 percent of companies reported an actual increase in orders for new equipment. The survey also points to a stabilization of margins on new truck sales. For over a year, suppliers have been reporting falling prices. However, in the short term at least, the downward trend appears to have been arrested, with well over half reporting no change. Casual hire remains steady, with 66 percent reporting no change in margins and eight percent indicating an improvement.
