ABSTRACT
The launching of the Ecabinet system from the Ricoh company is reported. It is the company's latest move into document management which can shorten the time taken in searching for and storing document. The system simplifies document capture, retrieval and storage using OCR and indexing on all document entering the organization without user intervention. It is built to open interfaces and protocols so should integrate into any network, and has a Web browser with powerful search mechanisms. It acts as a dedicated server to catch faxes, scans, printout, photocopies and PC documents.
