ABSTRACT
The Institute of Logistics and Transport has launched a new mentoring scheme for members. The mentor's role is to help individual members to recognize their abilities, explore their career potential and achieve their personal goals. A good mentoring relationship is one where the mentor and protege have mutual respect and recognize their need for personal development. This service is part of the institute's Continuing Professional Development scheme. The pilot phase of the scheme attracted responses from over 150 members interested in learning more about becoming a mentor. With only 30 places available on the initial training programs, the selection process proved difficult.
