ABSTRACT
Some of the difficulties regarding and differences between an outsourcing and partnership approach with logistics service providers. Firstly it is important to define and understand what key factors differentiate outsourcing and partnering These are discussed through the headings of relationship, quality, communication, contract, focus, control and employees. Selecting the right logistics model is fraught with difficulty and is achieved within business environments influenced by pressures to conform to the latest fashionable approaches. Companies should always be aware that rebuilding infrastructure and skills-sets is measured in years, rather than months, if the outsourcing/partnering decision is proved wrong.
