ABSTRACT
The issues that the Institute of Logistics and Transport should focus on as it celebrates, in 2001, the second year anniversary of its formation, were discussed in this article. In the view of the author, the principal driver of change in the logistics and transport industry is the increase in communication and information processing capacity. Some cynics argue that the institute's capacity to communicate exceeds the quality of the ideas and information to be communicated. But, whether that is the case or not, these changing circumstances set members of the institute a professional challenge. The institute is an important means to rise to this successfully. In the last two years, the institute has done much to reflect the changing world. All the developments contribute to the collective strength of the institute's knowledge and to its accessibility.
