The 2002 Impact Conference took place in the town of Windermere in the Lake District. The promised focus of the conference was how organizations can harness the innate leadership talents within their workforce. The first speaker of the event was Manfred Kets de Vries. He summed up leadership style as being a function of personality, life stage, national culture and corporate culture. The second speaker of the event was John Adair who addressed the role of the strategic leader and the underpinning qualities of a leader. Michael West presented his theory regarding the creation of more effective communities and how it can help solve social problems. The other speakers of the event were Simon Woodruffe and Merdith Belbin.
