The author's views with working with a group of external consultants for a specific industrial project were the main focus of this article. When the consultants first arrived in the office, they all wanted to know everything about the company operations in the first week. The author had about eight different meetings with separate groups of individuals, all of whom wanted broadly the same information from me and were always very grateful to receive it. What really sets the external consultants apart from the in-house employees is the language that they use. Quite clearly, the consultants that the author worked with are outstanding at what they do. He is just not sure what that is.
