ABSTRACT
The experiences of Kevin Sharpe, after winning the Young Manager Award was given out to him by the Institute of Logistics and Transport in 2001 has been presented in this article. He became the Celestica Europe Order Fulfillment Operations Manager. His main activity is the daily management of nine finished goods terminal for major customers such as the IBM, the Dell and the Sun Microsystems. Thanks to the award sponsor Wincanton, the money he received helped him buy a Palm Pilot and supply chain management books. The rest of the money, he says, is saved to contribute to a future masteral degree. Overall the award gave him more confidence that his career was moving in the right direction. It brought him more respect from his peers, and proved to Celestica that they had made the right decision in making him the youngest ever manager in the company.
