ABSTRACT
The contents of the November 1999 edition of the Bus Quality Indicators Bulletin is the main focus of this report. The average satisfaction score given by the passengers for the bus journey just completed was 80 out of 100 in England, 83 in Shire and Metropolitan areas and 74 in London, England. The highest satisfaction rating in London was for on-bus safety and security, with an average rating of 83 out of 100. Satisfaction with information at the bus stop averaged 61 for England compared with 71 in London. Satisfaction with bus services reliability averaged 64 out of 100 in London, 65 for Metropolitan and Shire areas, and 65 for England as a whole. The average age of the bus fleet remained at 8.5 years at the end of September 2001. The bus service reliability service found that less than two percent of scheduled local bus mileage in England was lost owing to factors within an operator's control, 56 percent of the lost mileage was because of staffing problems.
