ABSTRACT
There is recognition by public and private sector organizations alike of the strategic role that information technology (IT) now plays in their future survival and prosperity. One problem related to this is the fact that developing IT solutions cannot be a core business, and this places increasing dependence on specialist IT services companies to provide the solutions. What is needed is genuine business partnership based on common goals and shared success, with the relationship conducted in a spirit of openness and trust. Both partners need to operate as an enlarged team, defining and refining problems and solutions together.
