ABSTRACT
This article focuses on the results of a skills survey, published by the National Training Organizations of Great Britain, including the Road Haulage and Distribution Training Council, which shows that the skills shortages, recruitment difficulties and skills gaps are getting worse. Skills shortages, recruitment difficulties and skills gaps have not improved over the last six months. The most severe skills gaps are reported to be among technical occupations, or in sectors reliant upon information technology and management skills. Changes in working practices mean that, increasingly, employers see ongoing training as vital to organizational success.
