ABSTRACT
The growth of electronic commerce in European logistics companies will grow stronger for the next 12 months, within their organizations than any other industry sector. This was said to be the report of the survey conducted by the CMG, the European IT service group, in 1999. However despite such a commendable forecast over the fate of the European logistics in the future of electronic commerce. Only a small percent of the organization have defined an electronic commerce strategy. An even alarming incident is that there are no apparent head for electronic commerce. In most of the cases the strategy is left to the information technology director. Most of those who have been survey express their sentiment over electronic commerce as a tool in reducing the human contact with costumers. And a minority of them states that electronic commerce will eventually lead to the replacement of human interaction with their costumers.
