ABSTRACT
This article highlights the fifth Annual Conference of the Logistics Research Network, which was hosted in 2000 by the Lean Enterprise Research Center at the Cardiff Business School and was held in the conference center of the Cardiff University. The opening address by dan Jones gave an overview of the development and interrelationship of approaches to process thinking. Tis was followed by a presentation by Martin Christopher and Dennis Towill entitled An Integrated Model for the Design of Agile Supply Chains. There ensued a debate as to the smilarities, differences and relative merits of the lean and agile paradigms . In total over 80 papers were presented on issues in supply chain management and logistics that ranged from the conceptual to practical, and the strategic to the operational.
