ABSTRACT
This article reports that the Great Yarmouth port could soon be seeing three daily roll on-roll off (ro-ro) ferry arrivals and departures, as well as a major expansion of its poort facilities, following the launch of the initial proposals for a new harbor, apable of handling some of the most up-to-date ro-ro vessels operating in the North Sea. A new company with a new name East Port Great Yarmouth Ltd. is inviting ferry companies, port operators and other interested parties throughout Great britain and Europe to engage in exploratory talks. The whole project centers on a new harbor located at the entrance to the existing port which, at 103 nautical miles from the port of Ijmuiden at the entrance to the Amsterdam Canal and just 20 kilometers from the city of Amsterdam, amkes it the shortest of the major North Sea crossings between Netherlands and Great Britain.
