ABSTRACT
This article reports that the latest ship in the Greek ferry operator SUPERFAST FERRIES fleet made a journey to the Scottish Port of Rosyth in 2001. The visit marked a significant milestone in the developments for providing Scotalnd's first ferry service to mainland Europe. The proposed service is targeted for the spring of 2002 and the shipping line is working with port operators on the continent to determine the most suitable port, with options in France, Belgium and Holland under consideration. This particular ship, the Superfast V11, cost 65 million punds and can carry in excess of 1,000 passengers, 100 trucks and 120 private cars. Its top speed is 30 knots and it displaces 30,000 tons. Accomodation on it includes cabins of high standard, bars, restaurants, a casino, sauna and jacuzzi.
