Interiors get higher priority at Big 3

From concepts to production vehicles, Ford Motor Co., General Motors Corp. and the Chrysler Group have vowed to improve their interiors. That means better-looking plastic, more creativity and less clutter. Trevor Creed, Chrysler senior vice president of design, had his team buy an Audi A6 sedan long before it was available in the U.S. At Ford, Five Hundred sedan and Freestyle sport wagon, due in the fourth quarter of 2004, use brushed aluminum, satin trim and wood grain. A color-configurable instrument cluster also lets the driver select from 125 different colors.
