The article mentions the Du Pont Formula--an equation that is used for calculating investments returns and economic forecasting--which was designed by Donaldson Brown in 1914. Two professors comment on Brown and the importance of his formula to finance: Dale L. Flesher, the associate dean of the University of Mississippi's School of Accountancy; and Gary John Previts, accounting professor at Case Western Reserve University's Weatherhead School of Management. Another of Brown's concepts, "decentralized operations and coordinated control," was developed at General Motors.
