Elizabeth Jetton, Financial Planning Association president for 2004, traveled to South Africa in May 2003. She was to give the keynote address at the Financial Planning Institute's annual conference in Johannesburg. Jetton and her husband, Michael Smith, sat next to a young woman returning home to Cape Town after seminary study in Atlanta, Georgia. She shared her own story of transformation during the nine years since the end of apartheid and of the power of the reconciliation process. She spoke about what the word community means to her and how central it is to the quality of life in South Africa.
