Business Writing: Tips from a Pro

This article presents some tips on business writing. The writer should identify clearly the purpose of writing right at the beginning, before starting to write. Then one should focus on the audience who will be reading the article and accordingly select the wording, explanation, and technical terms. Spell out anything that the readers might not understand. The savvy reader can skim familiar descriptions; the curious reader is thankful for the bit of extra information. Treat the reader with integrity and infuse messages with integrity. Consider how to select language to influence the reader and get the point across. It is better to be concise, direct and original. Learn to maintain a clear tone by using as many words as one have to, yet as few as possible. Proofreading is also advised. Take out a print copy before proofreading. By proofreading one can notice the mistakes such as repetition and use of words and correct them.
