Jahrhunderts (VD 18). Nadine Ullmann and Thorsten Lemanski present the results of more than a decade of digitisation at the University and State Library (ULB) Düsseldorf. They describe building up the digitisation centre and the ULB's Digital Collections, from the beginning with one book scanner to today's very well equipped and professional digitisation centre with seven special scanners for the most different materials, and 6.1 million images online. Besides a number of inhouse projects, five projects promoted by the German Research Foundation (DFG) were successfully concluded. From these, the inhouse digitisation of the medieval manuscripts and the ULB's school programme collection stand out. Other remarkable projects are the DFG-promoted digitisation and indexing of a collection of documents on the history of pharmaceutics (Pharmaziehistorische Sammlung Dr. Helmut Vester) as well as the recent participation in the national cooperative indexing and digitisation project Verzeichnis der im deutschen Sprachraum erschienenen Drucke des 18. Jahrhunderts (VD 18) (Index of printed works published in the 18th century in the German language area).
