ABSTRACT
The article presents a profile of Charles Kane, the chief financial officer (CFO) of Ardent, and discusses the appellation of consolidated companies. Kane was the CFO of VMARK Software which merged with Unidata in 1998. The two companies then had to choose a name which was appropriate for the new company. Kane began his career in finance at Deloitte, Haskins and Sells before ultimately joining VMARK in 1995. In addition to his position in Ardent he teaches international finance at Boston College Graduate School of Management. INSET: Citizen Kane.
