ABSTRACT
The article states that the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) redefined its mission statement, which was required by the IRS Restructuring and Reform Act. The IRS changed the language in the statement to include the concept of providing a quality service to American taxpayers while helping them understand the tax laws. The Financial Executives Institute's Committee on Taxation is credited with bringing the customer-oriented idea to the IRS agency.
