The article discusses the employment opportunities of accounting and finance professionals. A survey sponsored by Robert Half International found that the chief financial officers (CFO) polled expected that the hiring of these individuals would increase during the second quarter of 2001 despite the high level of announced layoffs. 1,400 CFOs within the U.S. were polled for a representation of companies with 20 or more employees. However, results of the survey vary according to their industry. Results from the wholesale industry found 18% wishing to increase their staffing numbers but 8% of finance, insurance, and real estate industries wanted a decrease in staff.
