The article reports on the tracking of secondary stocks. These stocks, issued by major companies attempting to gain value from corporate spinoffs and Internet ventures, are having difficulty with traction. Staples Inc., due to this trouble, has withdrawn the planned public offering of Staples.com tracking stock. There had been a board-approved plan to allow some company insiders as well as outside vendors to cash in their shares of tracking stock at a high value compared to 18 months before in 1999.
