This article highlights the importance of providing advice on 401(k) plans to employees and efforts made by the U.S. Congress in this regard. The author argues that today's danger is that many 401 (k) participants are losing their retirement money but specific defined contribution plan investment advisory services could avoid that scenario. The U.S. Congress, spurred by a series of massive corporate bankruptcies, is considering legislation to allow fund managers to offer advice to employees without being liable.
