The Married Widow

Vandivier, Hugh
January 2004
Indianapolis Monthly;Jan2004, Vol. 27 Issue 6, p76
The article presents the author's narration of events related to her widow mother's marriage. I was glad that she found someone to love after my father died, but the lonely kid in me found it hard to give my mom away. He was a well-fed, twice-widowed, semi-retired Hungarian orthopedic surgeon from Da Region and they met my mom revealed later over an" Its Just Lunch" lunch. I needed an organizational chart to keep track of his big family, but Mom took to the throng as though it was hers. Before I knew it, I'd become my mother's official wedding assistant, schlepping up to Shapiros in Carmel to help with catering arrangements, designing and printing the wedding program.
