ABSTRACT
This article describes the experiments that were performed during the first decade of the operation of UNILAC, GSI-Darmstadt, at the recoil separator SHIP and the on-line mass separator. The measurements resulted in the discovery of the first radioactive ground state proton emitters, [sup151]Lu and [sup147]Tm

Early experiments observing proton emission are reviewed, with an emphasis on the initial discovery. Beta-delayed proton emission (1963), direct proton radioactivity (1970), and beta-delayed two-proton emission (1983) have all been observed, while direct two-proton radio-activity is still being...

In the present paper, we present measurements that led to the discovery of two-proton radioactivity. After the first observation of this decay mode for 45Fe, new measurements evidenced this decay mode also for 54Zn and most likely 48Ni. A new detector based on the time-projection chamber...

General conditions of direct decays are described and their main features, being experimentally established in decays...
