ABSTRACT
Objective: To investigate the expression levels of FKBP38 protein and their clinical significance in epithelial ovarian tumors. Methods: We evaluated the expression levels of FKBP38 protein in 20 cases of normal fallopian tube, 30 benign ovarian tumor,27 borderline ovarian tumor, and 130 epithelial ovarian cancer by immunohistochemical stain as well as the correlation of the expression levels of FKBP38 with the clinical and pathologic features of epithelial ovarian carcinoma. Results: The expression levels of FKBP38 were significantly lower in epithelial ovarian carcinoma than those in normal fallopian tube, benign ovarian tumor, and borderline ovarian tumor(P<0.05). The expression of FKBP38 protein reduced significantly in higher cancer staging of epithelial ovarian carcinoma according to FIGO staging standards(P<0.05), the expression of FKBP38 protein was significantly lower in high grade serous carcinoma than in low grade serous carcinoma. However, the expression of FKBP38 protein was independent of age and histological type of EOC(P>0.05). Conclusions: The expression of FKBP38 is potentially involved in the control of epithelial ovarian cancer occurrence and progression, which may provide a new strategy for the diagnosis and treatment of malignant ovarian tumor.

We have isolated a gene from a cDNA library, generated from the thymus of a mouse with severe combined immune deficiency, termed FKBP9, that encodes a protein related to FK506-binding protein 6 (65 kDa, FKBP65). The chaperone system is known to be exploited by viruses for their replication. In the present study, we identified the cochaperone FKBP6 as a host factor required for hepatitis C virus (HCV) replication. The gene FKBP5 codes for FKBP51, a co-chaperone protein of the Hsp90 complex that increases with age. Through its association with Hsp90, FKBP51 regulates the glucocorticoid receptor (GR). Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the FKBP5 gene associate with increased recurrence of depressive...

Aggregation of tau protein in the brain is associated with a class of neurodegenerative diseases known as tauopathies. FK506 binding protein 51 kDa (FKBP51, encoded by FKBP5) forms a mature chaperone complex with Hsp90 that prevents tau degradation. In this study, we have shown that tau levels...

Changes in FKBP12.6 binding to cardiac ryanodine receptors (RyR2) are implicated in mediating disturbances in Ca2+- homeostasis in heart failure but there is controversy over the functional effects of FKBP12.6 on RyR2 channel gating.
