Addresses the alleged underrepresentation of poor countries both on the editorial boards and in medical journals as a systematic bias against the diseases of poverty. Reason for the alleged underrepresentation in Western medical journals; Issues related to scientific publishing that were addressed in the annual meeting of the Council of Science Editors in May 2003; Actions taken by the publication of the "Canadian Medical Association Journal," to address global health and neglected diseases.
