ABSTRACT
The article examines how Jeff Bridges has challenged typecasting with variations in his each new role in motion pictures. He has portrayed a guilt stricken plane-crash survivor in "Fearless," the ultimate Los Angeles slacker in "The Big Lebowski," and a forward thinking President of the U.S. in "The Contender." Growing up in a family of actors, Bridges recalls that his primary training ground has been his home. Though Bridges admits that he has never faced the same challenges that actors without famous parents have done, he confides that his father's enthusiasm has driven his motivation to become an actor. In Bridges' latest transformation, he plays Charles Howard, the visionary millionaire, in "Seabiscuit."
