ABSTRACT
This article provides information on the 2003 Annual Logistics Convention of the Institute of Logistics and Transport, which will be held at the International Convention Center in Birmingham, England on June 17-18, 2003. Digby Jones, director-general of the CBI company will open the convention with a keynote address to delegates. The theme for the 2003 event is developmental in nature and targeted at two different audiences. For the senior managers the strategic level will offer an insight into brand new techniques, the cross-fertilization of ideas, including the development of their own staff and the hot topics of the day. For younger managers, the theme will be more operational and aims to develop those managers through the demonstration of best practice, through inspirational tutelage from leaders of the industry and through case studies aimed specifically at that level of delegate. Six half-day tracks will be presented over the two days of the event. These are automotive logistics, retail logistics, outsourcing, supply chain systems, automation and pharmaceutical/healthcare matters. For the first time, delegates will have the opportunity to purchase half-day sessions, making a menu-driven event, giving operational payback within their own business with a minimum investment in terms of time and fees.
