ABSTRACT
This article reports that the first Logistics Research Network workshop of 2001 will introduce delegates to the concept of complexity science and how it can be applied to logistics and supply chain systems. The workshop will be led by Richard Wilding, an expert in chaos theory as it impacts logistics. It will incorporate an interactive supply chain management game. Complexity science is becoming recognized as a means of understanding industrial and social systems. It gives insights into the emergence of new ways of competitive behavior, innovation, control, management, learning and the adaptation of such systems to new environments. The supply chain is an excellent example of such an environment. The workshop will be held on February 8, 2001.
