ABSTRACT
This article reports that the coach operator Tynedale Group Travel has, as of December 2000, diversified into local bus operation with two rural services in the Hexham area. One operates seven days a week between Hexham and Allenheads and is subsidized by the Northumbria County Council. The other is a schooldays and Tuesdays service to Gisland and Hexham. The company is determined that is bus operation will be run to the same high standard as its small coach fleet. It has recruited additional drivers and invested in computerized ticketing equipment, and is now looking at commercial routes elsewhere in the Tyne Valley.
