ABSTRACT
This article reports that David Green, director general of the Freight Transport Association (FTA) will become the association's executive vice president from January 1, 2001 and will be the first member of staff to join the FTA national Executive Board as a director of FTA Ltd. The move is designed to enhance his political role in supporting the FTA president and leading and developing the association's relationships with central government, officials and ministers of Great Britain. This role has recently been of importance during the FTA campaign for a reduction in duty on diesel of goods vehicles and with the supply chain problems generated by the fuel crisis. On January 1, 2001, Richard Turner , presently deputy director general, becomes chief executive of the FTA.
