ABSTRACT
This article presents the results of a research study conducted by the Expo 2000 company, the periodical "Computer Weekly," and the Compaq company that branded mobile commerce as a technology that will transform buying patterns of the future by suppliers. It was found out that 62 percent of companies in Great Britain are taking a 'wait and see' attitude to mobile commerce. The main reasons given by the companies for the absence of mobile commerce strategy were concentration on other business areas, consideration given to mobile commerce as unproven technology, lack of budget, skills shortages, and lack of top-level support. Those companies using mobile technologies appear to be following a similar pattern of adoption as electronic business.
