The article reports on the release of version 5.1 of the flagship Websense Enterprise software of Websense, as part of its employee Internet management solutions work. This latest version extends user benefits realized through real-time, user friendly reporting, broadened deployment options, and enhanced filtering from one centralized console. It performs three-tier integrated filtering at the gateway, network, and desktop to manage employee use of Web sites, network protocols and desktop applications through the enforcement of an organization's employee computing policy, all from a central management console. Using this unique approach, Websense claims to provide the most complete protection available against many new and emerging threats such as peer-to-peer abuse, spyware, employee hacking, and virus outbreaks. Websense Enterprise v5.1 includes enhancements in three key areas: Enterprise software, Explorer, and the Client Application Manager module. The product also integrates into a greater number of customer environments with expanded operating system support across Windows and Linux.
