ABSTRACT
This article focuses on laundry equipments. If one talks about equipment mix, one needs to look at larger machines, 35- to 80-pound washers. In terms of balancing the amount of washers and dryers, stores with less than 3,000 square feet can get away with three dryers for every four washers. The amount of open space desired obviously has a major impact on equipment mix. Open space and a seating area are needed at the entrance, but the rest of the store should have as much equipment as possible with a minimum of five feet of aisle space. The single-pocket dryers have given way to the stack 30-pound dryers, which allow to get almost twice as many dryers in the same floor space.
