This article presents a three-phase educational action research project combining action and critical reflection, towards helping students establish strong bonds with their peers and teachers. Besides open ended interviews, the project involved photovoice, a research strategy requiring individuals of a community to create and share photographs as a means of personal development and needs assessment. These photovoice sessions and interviews were conducted with a special educator and a student teacher.
