ABSTRACT
This article reports on the Helsinki Experience Study Tour for members of the Stoke and Stafford Branch of the Institute of Logistics and Transport. On the first day, most of the group took the local train from Helsinki's main rail station to Hyvinkaa, where they toured the Finnish State Railway museum. The next day saw the group having its first formal visit of the Port of Helsinki. Then they visited the offices of the Finnsteve Oy AB, the leading port operator in Finland. After an early evening meal, the group went to the offices of the TNT Suomi company. The next day, the group visited the headquarters of the PLL, the Finnish public transport association. Then they travelled out to the Toolo tram depot, where the project manager told them of the history of the tram fleet. Then they visited the rail station of Kera, and was taken by Sauli Harju, development manager of Logistics for the Inex Partners, to visit the Logistics Center of the company. On the last day, the group visited the Helsinki-Vantaa airport.
