ABSTRACT
This article discusses why members of the Institute of Logistics and Transport (ILT) should take advantage of the ILT mentoring scheme. As a professional, members need to consider his or her own continuing professional development. The institute can help members by matching them with a trained mentor who can help, guide or support them. A mentor can also help members to devise a continuing professional development plan and to record their own activities. The institute can match members with a mentor who can be within or outside their own professional area, who can be within or outside a point in a member's career, who has been through the ILT's intensive training program, and who has access to electronic communication systems.
