ABSTRACT
This article reports that young professionals have attended a meeting at the Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland. In all, a total of 50 members and non-members were involved and feedback indicated that this event, organized by the Institute of Logistics and Transport's Young Professionals for Young Professionals was a great success. The morning session on project management was comprised of an overview, followed by case studies presented by Ian Edgar and John Saunders. Afternoon sessions were of a more specialized nature, with those associated having a presentation ion Scottish Transport Appraisal Guidance led by John Stevens. The day emanated from research carried out on branch membership which showed that 23 percent of the Scottish-based membership was 35 and under. The day was directed at addressing the issues of value to young managers, towards enhancing their knowledge and career development and enabling them to take back something of value to the businesses in which they work.
