This article focuses on the report published by the King Sturge International Property Consultants, which identified electronic commerce as one growing sector driving demand for large warehouses to facilitate online ordering distribution in 2000. It has been found out that the availability of industrial floorspace in England and Wales has decreased three percent from August 1999, meaning an uptake of demand in the industrial and distribution sector. The increase is partly attributable to the burgeoning effect electronic commerce is having on the distribution side. The demand for space to facilitate distribution for online companies is gathering pace and will continue to transmute with a take-up of industrial and distribution space, such as new warehouses for electronic retailers, smaller warehouses for manufacturers or new terminals for logistics specialists.
