ABSTRACT
MAS Holdings Ltd. is headquartered in Colombo, Sri Lanka. MAS Holdings is named for its three founding brothers — Mahesh Amalean, Ajay Amalean and Sharad Amalean. Established in 1986 with a single factory, MAS Holdings, manufacturer of intimate apparel for retailers such as Victoria's Secret, Gap Inc., Lands' End, Reebok International Ltd., Marks & Spencer PLC and Nike Inc., now has a presence in 10 countries and a work force of 21,000. The company also manufactures sportswear and leisure-wear, and has set up product-focused manufacturing facilities in collaboration with joint venture partners. From the company's inception, MAS has invested in manufacturing technology to bring competitiveness to its businesses. The company's apparel manufacturing facilities are completely automated from concept through to delivery wherever possible. The next step for MAS is to integrate the complete supply chain using SAP as the backbone, a project it's already piloting with one of its customers. This year MAS will invest approximately 5 percent of its sales in manufacturing and information technology.
