ABSTRACT
This article highlights the 2001 conference attended by members of the Scottish branch of the Institute of Logistics and Transport . The theme of the conference was innovation and investment which was well aired both in the opening addresses by the Scottish branch chairman, Gerry Condron and institute president, Richard J. Hunt. The morning plenary sessions reflected the different backgrounds of the delegates by offering a twin stream choice to those from transportation or logistical careers. The presentations made during the morning sessions were by Jonathan Metcalfe, Archie Hipwell, Nigel Stevens, Ken McNab, David Ballantyne, Jon Harris, Duncan Ritchie, Hugh Murdoch, Peter Paton. The afternoon primary session started with David Green who stressed the important role of goods distribution within Great Britain. Other presentations were given by Alan Duff, Mary McLaughlin, Peter Wood, Forbes MacGregor, Ron Masson, Pat Wingfield, and Denis Brant. The conference was concluded with a review of the day by Richard J. Hunt. The whole day was concluded with a dinner with over 300 participants.
