ABSTRACT
This article reports that the new food distribution center of the Tesco Plc, to the east of London, England, is now open. The Tibbett and Britten Retail Logistics company has been awarded a three-year contract to operate the facility in behalf of the company. The new distribution center took less than 18 months to build and, when fully operational in June 2002, will employ some 1,100 people. Designed to cater for Tesco's continuing growth in the region, the distribution center is one of the most technically advanced in Great Britain, capable of handling over 130 million cases a year.
