ABSTRACT
This article focuses on the achievements of Ken Swallow, who retired as a member of the Institute of Logistics and Transportation in 2001. A member of the Institute for 45 years, he joined the Chartered Institute of Transport as an employee in 1991. He has been an effective advocate for his branches and in this role effectively managed the relationship between head office and his region. He has been highly regarded by his branch chairmen and has developed inter-branch cooperation to a high level. His knowledge of the Chartered Institute of Transport has always been appreciated. He was influential in the design and branding of the organization. A wide knowledge of the subject and the personalities involved in public passenger transport and the logistics sector, made him a natural choice for the role of regional officer.
