ABSTRACT
This article reports that the new Internet-based warehouse space matching exchange, Spacebuster, went live during the latter part of 2001. With more than ten million square feet already available from leading logistics operators, Spacebuster displays short-term, peak or even long-term warehousing opportunities. Martin Coles, managing partner of the Fuller Peiser company which has developed the Spacebuster, believes that the online portal will create a totally new trading environment for business revolutionizing the warehouse marketplace. The concept behind Spacebuster is that vacant pallet and floor space in warehouses is costly to market and consequently tends to lie idle. Using the Spacebuster to match this space with companies needing capacity offers a speedy and cost-effective solution for short, medium and long-term requirements.
