ABSTRACT
The largest bus operator in Glasgow, Scotland, is rolling out an 11.5 million pound program investing in 104 buses that will bring a boost to public transport in the area. It aims to replace those older buses in the fleet with new vehicles. The 89 single-deck and 15 midi-buses benefit from bright modern interiors, double glazing and central heating which will allow for a more comfortable, relaxing and pleasant journey for passengers. The new buses will offer low-floor, easy access for passengers with buggies, people in wheelchairs and the elderly. The single-decks will have an additional feature which will allow the driver to lower the front passenger side door to the pavement for even easier access. The buses, models Optare Solo, Volvo B10BLE and B7L, some of which are already in use, will operate out of the Parkhead depot and will be used on many of the high frequency and volume corridors into the city.
