ABSTRACT
This article presents information to members of the Institute of Logistics and Transport, who would want to be considered as mentors for the institute's continuing professional development (CPD). One role of the CPD mentor will be to help members to review their professional and personal experience, set their goals and objectives for future activities, and then identify appropriate development activities. The first group of mentors will receive free training with the aim of progressing to super mentor status. The benefits of the program to mentoring candidates are enumerated. Key skills sought include the ability to listen actively, emphatize, ask questions and challenge assumptions, diagnose and analyze problems, give positive feedback, and empower the protegee.
